Common Agricultural Policy


Recently in Human Geography, we have been studying the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), which is a system of European Union agricultural subsidies and programmes. It represents about 44% of the EU's budget and these subsidies work by guaranteeing a minimum price to producers and by direct payment of a subsidy for crops planted. The system has changed since it's formation 50 years ago, as the introduction of the Common Agricultural Policy led to food mountains.
